Community Strong Executive Director

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Partners for Community Progress of St. Charles County, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead the expanding Community Health Coalition effort known as Community Strong SCC.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
A county-wide coalition of health providers, businesses and civic leaders and health advocates aligned for the purpose of improving overall health, well-being and productivity of St. Charles County residents through identified evidence-based initiatives.  This organization will initially operate under the Partners for Community Progress, a nonprofit organization.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Community Strong Executive Director will stand-up the new Community Health Coalition in 2018.  S/he will answer to the Community Health Coalition Executive Board.  S/he will set the Organizational & Operational Structure and fully develop and implement the proposed Business Plan and budget.  S/he will also be responsible for the hiring of any additional staff, as approved by the Community Health Coalition Executive Board.  This person will be the face of this new initiative for collective impact in the St. Charles County community, responsible for setting the image and identity of the organization moving forward.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Management
  • Conduct community health assessment of needs in cooperation with health systems
  • Conduct community assessment of providers for various health initiatives identified in community health assessment
  • Set up operations including office space, equipment, communications channels, etc.
  • Fully develop Business Plan and operating budget; refining Mission, Vision, Goals and Strategies
  • Leverage subject matter expertise from the community in development of the plan scope
  • Determine outcome measurement tools; set up matrix to measure success
Communications
  • Develop Marketing & Communications Plan
  • Develop promotional materials
  • Develop positive working relationships with community leaders; clearly explaining the mission and purpose of Partners Community Health Program
  • Report to Oversight Board
  • Speak at community events and organizations to encourage engagement by those groups
  • Present a positive and energizing image of organization
Leadership
  • Hire and Lead staff and volunteers
  • Set up first Focus Area Task Force; hire Focus Area Project Manager
Fiscal
  • Financial oversight including budget management
  • Grant-writing and fund-raising development; capacity-building
  • Report monthly financials to Health Program Executive Board

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required/Master’s preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience leading successful government, private and/or community programs
  • Experience in grant writing or securing grants
  • A self-starter; experience in starting up a program, organization or business
  • Strong knowledge of community
  • Well-respected as a civic leader
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong team leader of direct report employees as well as staff within a partnership context where specific team members are not direct reports
  • Adept at working with all levels of organizations, schools, businesses, government.
  • Can organize diverse groups around a common campaign for improved well-being
  • Compelling written/oral communications skills as it relates to driving initiatives, directing staff and motivating team volunteers
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously; prioritizing as needed to assure timely and cost-efficient outcomes
  • Can multi-task and deliver under pressure from various stakeholders
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with key partners
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats
  • Has demonstrated an interest in the progression of the St. Charles County community
  • Consistent conduct in a professional manner, in demeanor and in communications
  • Exudes a healthy attitude and image
COMPENSATION
A competitive compensation package will be made available to the qualified candidate along with a full benefits package and 401K.

REFERENCES AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
It is the EDC of St. Charles County’s policy to complete an extensive background and reference check of candidates.  Once strong mutual interest has been established, candidates are asked to provide a list of references that should include, but not be limited to a supervisor, a peer, a development client and a subordinate, as applicable.  Candidates will be asked to sign an authorization to release information for the purpose of background investigations, which may include verification of education, credit check, criminal and driving records.  Should an offer be extended prior to the completion of these checks, the offer will be made contingent on the successful completion of the reference and background checks.
