PRESS RELEASE – Oct. 12, 2017
The City of Wentzville, with its current population in excess of 40,000 residents, remains the second fastest-growing city in the state of Missouri (second only to Kansas City). With this growth comes a desire from residents for access to additional shopping and dining options.
The restaurant industry has responded to this interest with a flurry of recent activity. Old Town Smokehouse opened this week in vibrant Historic Downtown Wentzville. Also in downtown, Duke’s BBQ is currently under construction and should be open in November. Both Texas Roadhouse and Burger King are being built, along with a new pizza restaurant, Marco’s Pizza.
A new Sugarfire Smoke House location was recently approved by the Wentzville Board of Aldermen, which is planned for a development called The Junction that will be positioned along Interstate 70. This site is the former Whisk Plant property and has been approved as a mixed-use development.
While Wentzville’s goal is to not grow, simply for the sake of growth, the City is aware of its potential for continued residential and commercial expansion in the coming years. As growth occurs, the City’s forward-thinking leadership will consider how to best build out infrastructure, handle transportation issues, promote economic development and maintain a high quality of life for residents in our community.
